How Pricing Works

Transparent Wine Pricing
At Overstock Cellars, pricing isn’t a promotion - it’s our model.
Every bottle we offer is priced with intention, based on real market data and disciplined buying. We don’t rely on inflated “original prices”, “suggested retail prices” or artificial discounts.
We show you exactly how our pricing compares—so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
Each wine on our site includes three key numbers:
- Our Price
The price you pay. This reflects what we believe is a compelling, below-market price based on current conditions and our cost.
- Elsewhere Price
A reference point. This is based on prices listed by national retailers and marketplaces, including data from Wine-Searcher, at the time the wine is posted.
- Your Savings
The difference. This shows how much lower our price is compared to what you’ll typically find elsewhere.
Lower prices don’t come from cutting corners. They come from how - and when - we buy.
We focus on specific opportunities within the global wine market, including:
These are normal dynamics in the wine industry. They create moments where high-quality wines can be acquired at significantly better pricing. We act on those moments.
The wines we offer are not “cheap wines.”
They are the same wines you’ll find at other respected retailers - often from the same producers, vintages, and sources.
The difference is timing and buying strategy. We purchase intelligently, often in quantity, and pass that advantage directly to you.
We don’t list wines unless the price advantage is real.
In most cases, our pricing falls approximately 20% to 35% below the lowest available prices found on Wine-Searcher and other national retailers at the time of listing.
That difference isn’t incidental - it’s intentional.
It reflects how we buy: selectively, opportunistically, and often in volume.
If the price advantage isn’t meaningful, we don’t list the wine.
Every wine we offer goes through our internal selection process: OC Select™.
It’s not a marketing phrase - it’s how we operate.
We evaluate:
Pricing is not an afterthought - it’s part of the selection.
Elsewhere prices are based on Wine-Searcher and other national retailers at the time of posting.
Prices in the market may change over time due to availability, geography, and retailer pricing strategies.
We update our listings as needed to ensure our pricing remains accurate and competitive.
We believe customers shouldn’t have to guess whether a wine is fairly priced.
By showing both our price and the broader market context, we give you clarity - not marketing.
No inflated comparisons.
No artificial discounts.
No pressure.
Just well-selected wines at prices that make sense.
Curated for Value.
