Shipping Policy — Delivery Information

We believe great wine should be delivered with the same care it was selected.

Our shipping process is designed to be reliable, transparent, and efficient.

Typical Delivery Times

Estimated delivery times after shipment:

  • California: 1–3 business days
  • West Coast: 2–4 business days
  • Midwest: 3–5 business days
  • East Coast: 7–12 business days

Restricted states (Texas, Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey):
Delivery may take up to three weeks, as shipments are sent via temperate controlled consolidated carriers and do not offer express service.

Please note: delivery times may vary due to weather, carrier delays, or seasonal volume.

Temperature Protection & Weather Holds

To ensure your wine arrives in proper condition, we may delay shipments during periods of extreme heat or cold.

  • Orders may be placed on temporary weather hold
  • This is done to protect the integrity of the wine

If you prefer immediate shipment despite weather risks, you may request release of your order.
In such cases, the customer assumes responsibility for temperature-related damage.

Adult Signature Required (21+)

All wine deliveries require an adult signature.

  • Recipient must be 21 years or older
  • Carriers cannot leave wine unattended

For convenience, we recommend shipping to a business address when possible.

Shipping Limitations by State

Due to state regulations, we do not offer direct express shipping to:

  • Texas
  • Illinois
  • Rhode Island
  • New Jersey

Orders to these states ship weekly via consolidated carriers and may take up to three weeks.

Legal Compliance & Title Transfer

All wine sales occur in the state of California.

  • Title transfers to the buyer in California
  • Overstock Cellars acts as your agent in arranging shipment

By placing an order, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 21 years old
  • You are legally permitted to purchase and receive alcohol
  • You comply with all local and state laws
  • You are authorized to receive the shipment

Failed Deliveries & Returned Shipments

Please ensure someone 21+ is available to receive your order.

If delivery attempts fail and the package is returned:

  • Original shipping costs
  • Return shipping fees

…may be deducted from your refund.

To avoid this:

  • Ship to a business address
  • Monitor tracking information
  • Contact us to delay shipment if needed

Order Processing & Shipping Timeline

  • Orders typically ship within 1–2 business days
  • Orders placed on weekends/holidays ship next business day
  • You will receive tracking information once your order ships

Orders may be delayed during extreme weather to protect wine quality.
