The Il Poggione 2017 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is a classic 100% Sangiovese Grosso from one of Montalcino's most celebrated and historic estates. Produced from estate vineyards in Sant'Angelo in Colle and traditionally aged for 24 months in large oak casks, this highly acclaimed Brunello earned 94 Points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and 93 Points from Vinous. In the challenging 2017 vintage, Il Poggione incorporated fruit originally intended for its prestigious Riserva, creating one of the estate's finest Brunellos in recent years.
Rich aromas of blackberry, black cherry, plum, tobacco, cedar, leather, and baking spice lead to a beautifully balanced palate with polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish. Powerful yet elegant, this benchmark Brunello is enjoyable today with decanting and will continue to evolve beautifully for years to come.
