The Livia Fontana 2017 Barolo Riserva Bussia DOCG is a powerful, traditional Barolo from the Bussia cru in Monforte d’Alba, one of the Langhe’s most celebrated vineyard sites. The estate’s vines are located in the Munie section of Bussia, on southwest-facing slopes around 300 meters in elevation. The vineyard’s clay-rich marls contribute to a Barolo known for fruit intensity, structure, pronounced tannins, and exceptional longevity.

Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo, the wine displays a complex bouquet of rose, wild berries, cocoa, juniper, coffee, tobacco, and savory herbs. The palate is broad and powerful, with firm yet polished tannins, vibrant acidity, layered dark fruit, spice, and a remarkably persistent finish. Falstaff awarded the 2017 95 points, noting its fragrant raspberry and rose-petal character and beautifully integrated tannins.

The 2017 Riserva receives extended traditional aging, with the estate aging the wine for approximately 53 months in large oak casks followed by additional bottle aging before release. The result is a classic, cellar-worthy Barolo with both immediate complexity and substantial aging potential.
